Scott Whitlock built one of the most remarkable dynasties in NCAA softball history, beginning with a chance connection that brought him to Kennesaw State. After early success in slow-pitch, he led the program through a transition to fastpitch in 1991, immediately producing a 41-11 record and a No. 4 national ranking in the team’s first season. The Owls quickly became a national powerhouse, making four straight NAIA World Series appearances and later capturing back-to-back NCAA Division II national championships in 1995 and 1996.

Whitlock sustained that success for decades, leading KSU to nine Division II World Series appearances in 11 seasons and guiding the program into Division I competition, where it continued to thrive with conference titles and winning records. He finished his career with a 997-302 record and one of the highest winning percentages in NCAA Division II history, while developing dozens of All-Americans and award-winning players. Whitlock’s impact extended beyond coaching, later serving in an administrative role and helping build KSU athletics, solidifying his legacy as one of the most influential figures in school history.
