Chandler Burks was promoted to co-offensive coordinator at Kennesaw State on Feb. 6, 2024, after four years as quarterbacks coach, and later served as interim head coach during the 2024 season. He played a key role in guiding the Owls through an offensive transition, helping quarterback Jonathan Murphy set single-game program records for passing yards, completions, and attempts early in the season. Throughout his coaching tenure, Burks has been instrumental in developing record-setting quarterbacks, including Xavier Shepherd, who earned multiple All-American honors and conference accolades under his guidance.

Before coaching, Burks was one of the most decorated players in program history, helping build the foundation of Kennesaw State football as its first signee. He finished his career with 2,813 rushing yards, 56 rushing touchdowns, and 3,638 passing yards, leading the Owls to a 31-6 record as a starting quarterback. His standout 2018 season included an FCS-record 29 rushing touchdowns by a quarterback, National Performer of the Year honors, and a runner-up finish for the Walter Payton Award. Burks remains one of the most impactful figures in KSU football history, both as a player and coach.
