Kennesaw State's First Year in Conference USA

Capital Campaign 

 

Kennesaw State University launched the public phase of The Campaign for Kennesaw State, the largest, most comprehensive fundraising effort in the University's history.

July 1, 2024 - Day One in Conference USA

 

Kennesaw State athletics officially joins Conference USA and the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS).

August 15, 2024 - Women's Soccer First Home Game vs. Mercer

 

Although it'll marked the first event for KSU at a member of CUSA, they battled an in-state foe for the 17th all-time matchup versus the Mercer Bears. Full Schedule 

September 7, 2024 - First FBS Home Game vs. Louisiana

 

KSU hosts the Ragin' Cajuns under the lights at 7:00 p.m. for the first home game of Kennesaw State's FBS era.

September 18, 2024 - Borregaard Swings Into History

 

Senior Claes Borregaard delivered an impressive performance on the course and became the first KSU men's golfer to win Conference USA Golfer of the Week.

September 19, 2024 - Women's Soccer First CUSA Home Match

 

The Owls opened up the CUSA era at home versus the Miners.

September 27, 2024 - First Home Game in the Convocation Center (Volleyball vs NMSU)

 

The Owls opened CUSA play with their first-ever win with a 3-2 victory over New Mexico State . Game Story 

September 29, 2024 - Soccer Earns First Conference USA Win

 

The friendly confines of Fifth Third Stadium proved beneficial for Kennesaw State women's soccer against the Sam Houston Bearkats, where the Black and Gold won its first Conference USA game, 2-1.

October 4, 2024 - First Conference USA and Nationally-Broadcasted Home Football Game

 

Kennesaw State football ushered in its new era with its first home Conference USA game against Jax State which also marked the program's first nationally-televised game inside Fifth Third Stadium.

October 23, 2024 - Kennesaw State Football Upsets Unbeaten Liberty for First FBS and Conference USA Victory

 

Kennesaw State toppled 5-0 Liberty, 27-24, for the first FBS and Conference USA win in program history. The Owls snapped the Flames' 17-game regular season win streak and the country's longest conference win streak. Victory Buzz

October 28, 2024 - Owls Sweep Conference USA Weekly Honors

 

Good things come in threes and Kennesaw State football did just that, sweeping Conference USA Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Player of the Week awards following the upset win over Liberty.

November 2, 2024 - Strong Showing From Owls at Conference USA Championships

 

Kennesaw State women's and men's cross country teams left their mark in their first CUSA Championship appearance. The women secured a third-place finish with the men coming in fifth.

November 5, 2024 - Rivera Earns Soccer's First CUSA Postseason Award

 

Tianna Rivera made history after an impressive season on the pitch, winning KSU women's soccer's first CUSA All-Conference honor.

November 11, 2024 - First Conference USA Men's Basketball Freshman of the Week Honor

 

Adrian Wooley earned himself a spot in the Kennesaw State history book, securing the first CUSA Freshman of the Week honor in program history.

November 18, 2024 - Berry Soars to Conference USA Player of the Week

 

Senior guard Keyarah Berry put an exclamation mark on a stellar start to 2024-25, earning the first women's basketball's first Conference USA weekly honor.

November 20, 2024 - Johnsen Secures Volleyball's First All-CUSA Honor

 

Manu Johnsen added to her legacy with the Black and Gold, earning First Team All-Conference USA for KSU volleyball.

November 22, 2024 - Volleyball Earns First Conference USA Postseason Win

 

KSU volleyball soared to victory in its first CUSA tournament game in program history, getting past Middle Tennessee, 3-2, in El Paso, Texas.

November 24, 2024 - Men's Basketball Upsets No. 24 Rutgers in First Nationally-Televised Regular Season Home Game

 

In the first nationally-televised regular season home game inside the KSU Convocation Center, on CBS Sports Network, KSU men's basketball toppled No. 24 Rutgers, 79-77. Victory Buzz

November 25, 2024 - Cottle Wins Men's Basketball's First CUSA Player of the Week Award

 

Following the Owls' upset of No. 24 Rutgers, Simeon Cottle posted another benchmark for KSU men's basketball, winning the program's first CUSA Player of the Week honor. Jamil Miller also won CUSA Freshman of the Week - the first sweep of the awards for Owl Hoops.

December 10, 2024 - All-Conference USA Football Selections

 

Eight Owls were named to the 2024 All-Conference USA and CUSA All-Freshman teams following the conclusion of KSU's first season in the league.

January 4, 2025 - Men's Basketball Starts 1-0 in Conference USA Action

 

Behind a combined 48 points from Simeon Cottle and Adrian Wooley, Kennesaw State men's basketball toppled Jacksonville State, 83-71, for its first Conference USA win in its first CUSA contest inside the KSU Convocation Center.

January 16, 2025 - Women's Basketball Takes Down Sam Houston

 

26 points and a career-high 16 rebounds from Prencis Harden earned the program's first Conference USA win, toppling the Bearkats 85-73.

The KSU women's track and field squad made a name for themselves at the 2025 Conference USA Indoor Championships, earning a third-place finish!

Men's track and field made Kennesaw State history by securing the school's first Conference USA crown at the 2025 CUSA Indoor Championships!

March 8, 2025 - Unbeaten No More

 

Cam Suto and Donovan Cash launched a pair of homers in a six-run ninth inning to propel Kennesaw State baseball to a 13-9 win on the road at West Virginia. The win over the Mountaineers ended their undefeated campaign, having started the season 13-0.

March 10, 2025 - Wooley Named CUSA Freshman of the Year

 

MBB's Adrian Wooley earned the program's first Conference USA Freshman of the Year honor behind a stellar season, adding to three All-CUSA awards for the program. He joined Simeon Cottle, who was named to the All-CUSA Second Team as well as All-Freshman Team honoree Braedan Lue. Wooley was also named to the CUSA All-Conference First Team.

March 10, 2025 - Stellar Season for Harden Nets CUSA All-Conference Honor

 

One of the best seasons in Kennesaw State women's basketball history was cemented with a All-Conference USA First Team honor for Prencis Harden. She won a league-best five Player of the Week awards and led the conference in double-doubles.

March 13, 2025 - MBB Semifinal Conference USA Tournament Berth

 

Men's basketball made itself known in the 2025 CUSA Tournament, getting past New Mexico State, 80-77, and earning a spot in the tournament semifinals against No. 1 seed Liberty. Adrian Wooley was named to the CUSA All-Tournament Team.

March 21-23, 2025 - First Series Win

 

Owl baseball faced Western Kentucky in its first Conference USA series in program history. The Black and Gold completed two huge wins, 9-8 in game one and 8-2 in game three, to secure the series at S. Walter Kelly Sr. Memorial Field in Marietta, Ga. The victories marked just the second and third losses for WKU at that point in the season, as the Hilltoppers had amassed a 20-1 record entering the weekend.

April 5, 2025 - Softball Shutout Secures First CUSA Victory

 

Game two of a Saturday doubleheader saw KSU blank Western Kentucky 1-0 to achieve the program's first CUSA win.

April 14, 2025 - Anderson Earns CUSA Hitter of the Week

 

Nate Anderson secured the program's first Hitter of the Week honor on April 14 after a .462 batting average and a grand slam against Sam Houston.

April 18, 2025 - Men's Tennis Advances to CUSA Semis

 

A 4-1 victory over New Mexico State propelled the Black and Gold to Conference USA semifinals in the program's first year in the league.

May 6, 2025 - Macie Howes Named to All-CUSA Second Team

 

After a stellar season behind the dish for Kennesaw State, Macie Howes earned KSU softball's first All-Conference USA honor.

May 9, 2025 - Borregaard Named Conference USA Player of the Year

 

In addition to three All-CUSA honors, men's golder Claes Borregaard earned Conference USA Player of the Year honors.

May 14, 2025 - Borregaard Advances to NCAA Championships

 

After finishing tied for second at the NCAA Auburn Regional, Claes Borregaard punched his ticket to the 2025 NCAA Men's Golf Championships - the first individual in program history to earn this berth.

May 19, 2025 - Men's Track and Field Captures Conference USA Outdoor Championship

 

A first place finish at the 2025 CUSA Track and Field Championships for the KSU men's squad marks the second CUSA title in the school's first season in the league.

May 19, 2025 - Five Named to All-CUSA Baseball Team

 

Five Kennesaw State baseball student-athletes were named to the All-Conference USA Team, including Donovan Cash (first), Bo Rhudy (first), Nate Anderson (second) and All-Freshman Team selections Ty Bayer and Wesley Alig

May 22, 2025 - Win and Advanced

 

Behind Donovan Cash's KSU DI single-season record-breaking homer, No. 3 Kennesaw State won its first CUSA tournament game in program history, advancing past No. 7 New Mexico State, 10-5.

Fifth Third Bank and KSU Athletics Extend Partnership Through 2030

 

Kennesaw State University and Fifth Third Bancorp (Nasdaq: FITB) have announced the extension of their sponsorship agreement through June 30, 2030, with an additional three-year option to renew. Fifth Third's increased investment in the partnership includes an investment towards KSU Athletics' Capital Campaign.

Baseball Stadium Renovation 

 

The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia today approved two major construction projects at Kennesaw State University – the construction of a new residence hall on the Kennesaw Campus and a renovation of the Owls' baseball stadium.

KSU Owl Network Aims High After Record Year

 

After a record-setting year, the KSU Owl Network has its sights set even bigger. Led by Director of Video Services Sanders Sullivan, Video Coordinator Brandon Bedford, Director of Creative and Digital Media Liam Kissinger, along with Assistant AD for Broadcasting and Communications Nolan Alexander, the KSU Owl Network produced over 100 events last year and was highlighted by the strongest ESPN+ viewership on record.

In collaboration with SIDEARM Sports, Kennesaw State Athletics is proud to unveil the new, updated KSUOwls.com website Wednesday, May 7.

KSUOwls.com has been the digital home of the Owls for almost two decades and this launch follows the path of continued growth almost one year after KSU moved to Conference USA and NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS).

This update to the website welcomes new features and improved mobile integration to enhance the user experience on desktop and mobile devices. The website also boasts a layout and design upgrade centered around the colors of Kennesaw State: Black and Gold.
