KENNESAW, Ga. - After a record-setting year, the KSU Owl Network has its sights set even bigger. Led by Director of Video Services Sanders Sullivan, Video Coordinator Brandon Bedford, Director of Creative and Digital Media Liam Kissinger, along with Assistant AD for Broadcasting and Communications Nolan Alexander, the KSU Owl Network produced over 100 events last year and was highlighted by the strongest ESPN+ viewership on record.
KSU was seen by its largest audiences with 5,660,342 minutes watched and 462,684 total unique viewers for KSU home games streamed on ESPN+. For games not streamed on ESPN+, KSU transitioned its games from YouTube to KSUOwls.com for easier access. After surpassing 22,000 views for lacrosse, softball, and baseball games, KSUOwls.com will continue to stream home soccer and volleyball matches this fall that are not on ESPN+.
For the first time, the KSU Owl Network was a finalist in two SVG (Sports Video Group) categories. Its work in the Outstanding Live Non-Game Production category was honored for its KSU vs. Jacksonville State Basketball Postgame Coverage, and its
"This is Home" was recognized in the Outstanding Social Media Video category.
A focus of the KSU Owl Network is to give Kennesaw State University students job-ready experiences. By increasing its student intern pool and training hours, Sullivan and Bedford accomplished staffing 100% of control room positions staffed internally by students or themselves. This included three fully student-run ESPN+ shows. Recent and current KSU Owl Network interns have leveraged their experiences for opportunities with Turner Broadcasting, the ASUN Conference, American Idol, local news stations, and more.
Another component of the KSU Owl Network is creative. KSU students create many of the videos seen across KSU team social channels and KSUOwls.com. Their work has enhanced the brand of KSU programs and led to more awareness. For example, their creative work helped increase men's basketball and football by over 9,000 followers and 16 million impressions last year.
This year is off to another stellar start with videos showcasing student-athletes, coaches, and fans. Watch this
