Members of the Kennesaw State track and field teams will compete at the Virginia Challenge April 22-23 as the Owls turn down the home stretch of the season with two meets left before the Atlantic Sun Championships.
Lannigan Field
Lannigan Field became home to the Virginia Track and Field teams in 1971. The new track surface from Beynon Sports Surfaces has eight 48" lanes and a 36.8m radius that provides a ideal training environment, while allowing for fast competition. In addition, all field events are within the oval and include two long jump lanes with 179' runways, two high jump pits, two pole vault boxes, two shot put circles, a javelin runway and a discus/hammer throw cage.

THE COMPETITION:
The Owls will compete against many of the nation's top collegiate teams this week at the Virginia Challenge.
LAST TEAM OUTDOOR MEET
The Kennesaw State men's and women's track teams closed out action at the South Alabama Invitational on Saturday, April 16 at the Jaguar Track.
The women's team won the meet on the women's side scoring 124 points over the three day meet. The men's team collected 83 points to take home fourth place.
NEXT UP:
The Owls will head to Des Moines, Iowa to compete in one the collegiate track's most prestigious meets, the Drake Relays on Friday-Saturday April 29-30.

» The men's team enters the week leading the A-Sun in 10 of 20 events so far this season.
Sean Blassingame leads in the 100m and 200m.
Terrell Singleton leads in the 110m hurdles.
Andre Dorsey leads in the triple jump, long jump, and javelin.

Martynas Sedys leads the hammer throw, Fabeon Tucker leads the shot put,
Dayo Akindele leads the heptahlon, and the Owls 4x400 relay team currently lead the A-Sun.

Andre Dorsey is currently ranked fourth in the triple jump, eighth in the long jump, and 18
th in the high jump in the NCAA this season.

Sean Blassingame was named Atlantic Sun Men's Track Athlete of the Week for his performance at the South Alabama Invitational with a conference lead in the 100m and a big PR 10.84. He also set a PR in the 200m with another conference leading 21.60. But he started it all off with a PR of 7.22m in the long jump for the win! After 3 personal records on the day he ran a leg of the 4x400m relay.

Dayo Akindele grabbed a third place finish in his first ever decathlon.

Terrell Singleton won the 110m hurdles in 14.17 seconds.
» The women's track and field team enters the week ranked 96th in this week's USTFCCCA Outdoor computer rankings poll.
» The women's team leads the A-Sun in seven of 20 events headed into action this weekend.
Dollitia Thomas leads in the 400m.
Kidan Kidane leads in the 1500m and the 5,000m.
De'Von Johnson leads in the long jump, and heptathlon.
Marija Bogavac and the Owls 4x400m relay team also currently lead the A-Sun.
» Bogavac is ranked eighth in the NCAA in the javelin with that toss of 54.77m (179'8) at the Emory Invitational.
» The women's 4x400m relay team of

Jocselyn Powell, and
Latoya Huntwon the relay in 3:47.00.

De'Von Johnson fiished second in her first ever heptathlon at the South Alabama Invitational with 4805 points which was good for third best in school history.
