LAX: Owls Look to get Back on Track Against Howard and Old Dominion

Farwick Leads the Team with 26 Goals

TALKING POINTS
» The Kennesaw State women's lacrosse team hosts Howard and Old Dominion this weekend. The Owls will kick the weekend off by playing Howard on Thursday, April 2 at 6 p.m. Then, on Saturday, April 4 they will play Old Dominion.
» The Owls are 2-0 against Howard after beating them last season by a 24-10 margin. That's the largest margin of victory the Owls have had over an opponent.
» Sydney Farwick leads the team with 31 points and 33 draw controls. She has accumulated four points in three of the past five games for the Owls. In six of the games this season, Farwick has had at least three goals.
 
THE COMPETITION
HOWARD                                        
Howard has started the season 0-4 and 0-2 in the A-Sun.
 
Last weekend, the Bison started the conference season off by losing to Stetson and Jacksonville.
 
Natia Warren and Aria Williams lead the team with five goals each. They each have one assist as well to lead the team with six points.
 
The Bison are led by Marguerite Lanaux.
 
OLD DOMINION                             
ODU enters the weekend with an 8-4 overall record after posting a 1-1 showing last week. The Monarchs fell to the defending Atlantic-Sun Conference champions, Jacksonville, by a 14-4 margin, but bounced back to defeat Stetson two days later, 13-8 to notch their first A-Sun win of the year.
 
Junior attacker Ashmore Standing is the only Monarch to reach 40+ points so far this season. She leads the team with 41 total on 29 goals and 12 assists.
 
Heather Holt is is the head coach for the Monarchs. She is in her fourth season as head coach and was an assistant coach for 12 years before that. 
 
» NEWS AND NOTES
This Week in KSU Lacrosse
»    The Owls are back at home in Fifth Third Bank Stadium for a pair of games this weekend against Howard and Old Dominion. The Howard game is Thursday, April 2 at 6 p.m. and the Old Dominion game is Saturday, April 4 at noon. The Owls are 2-0 against Howard and this will be the first time they have faced Old Dominion.

»    The Kennesaw State women's lacrosse team fell to the Detroit Titans by a score of 21-9 on Sunday, March 29 on a windy Titan Field.

»    "After Furman, we emphasized cleaner play and more intentional ball movement, and we did make progress in turnovers and fouls today."
 
KSU as a Team                                   
»    The Kennesaw State goalies have combined to make 129 saves on the season. That is the most saves in the A-Sun and the team is third in averaging 10.75 saves per game.
»    The come from behind victory against LIU Brooklyn was the largest deficit that Kennesaw State has overcome in its three seasons as a program. KSU trailed the Blackbirds by four goals at 6-2 in the first half and trailed by three goals at halftime.
»    Coming into the season, the Owls team record for assists in a game was eight. So far this season, KSU has surpassed that number twice against Delaware State and Gardner Webb. Kennesaw State had 10 assists against the Hornets and had nine assists against the Runnin' Bulldogs.
 
KSU Individually                               
» Laura Jordan leads the team in ground balls with 29 and caused turnovers with 18. She is second on the team in winning 21 draw controls.
» After not scoring in the first three games, Lucy Mills tallied a goal in five of her next six games. The most goals she has had in a game has been three against Coastal Carolina
» Taylor McGhee surpassed her 13-goal output from the 2014 season in six games this season. She is currently second on the team in scoring with 23 goals. She has also had three assists to have 26 points.
