KENNESAW, Ga. – Five members of the Kennesaw State women's lacrosse program claimed CSC (College Sports Communicators) Academic All-District Women's At-Large Team honors, the national organization announced Tuesday. Aislinn Pendergast and Kendal Elison both made their third appearance on the team, with Marleigh Belinfanti, Elle Busby, and Cybella Smith earning all-district honors for the first time.
Student-athletes must be in at least their second season, hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 and be a starter or important reserve to be eligible for the CSC Academic All-District teams.
Belinfanti, a sophomore attacker from Powder Springs, Ga., is an information systems major, appearing in all 18 games, making 15 starts. She is a key piece in the Owls' attack, scoring 22 goals with eight assists, also picking up 15 ground balls and causing 11 turnovers. Her 30 points ranked third on the team, and her eight assists ranked second.
Pendergast, a senior defender from Dacula, Ga., started all 18 games for the Owls this season. A veteran on the back line picked up 20 ground balls, 15 caused turnovers, and two draw controls. She graduated this spring with her degree in political science.
Busby, a junior defender from Edina, Minn., is majoring in criminal justice. She appeared in 17 games with four starts, notching seven ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Elison, a senior defender from Collegeville, Pa., started all 18 games for the Owls this season. Another veteran presence on the defense, she scooped up a career-high 25 ground balls, also causing 11 turnovers. She graduated this spring with her degree in computer science.
Smith, a junior goalkeeper from Dallas, Ga., is majoring in management and started 17 games this past season. She turned in a terrific season with 115 saves, 12.55 goals against average, .415 save percentage, 32 ground balls, and earning six wins. She ranked second on the team in ground balls and finished with the third best seasons in program history for both saves and goals against average.
