THE COMPETITION
DAVIDSON
Davidson is set to begin their 2015 season against the Owls.

The Wildcats have joined the Atlantic 10 after being in the Big South the last two seasons. The coaches voted that Davidson would finish in sixth place in the preseason poll.

In all, the 'Cats return 20 letter winners from a year ago, including seven starters led by Emily Rademacher (32 goals, 41 points), Emily Cooke (42 assists, program-record 105) and Emma Sissman (career-best 50 goals last year). They also return their top goalie Katy Boyle, who had 126 saves and a 9.24 goals against average last year.

It was a very successful season for the 'Cats in 2014. After matching the school-record for wins in 2013, the Wildcats set a new mark this past year by going 12-7 overall behind the strength of a school-best nine-game win streak. They also finished second in their final season in the Big South with a 6-1 mark and made an appearance in the Big South Championship game for the second year in a row.

Last Time Out
»    The Kennesaw State lacrosse team came up short against Winthrop on Tuesday, February 10 in the home opener at Fifth Third Bank Stadium as the Eagles topped the Owls 18-5.

Coach Llanes on Players that Stepped Up Against Winthrop
»    "I felt like Haley O'Donoghue, Connor Zophy and Megan Tobias did a really good job today picking up new roles. I think Taylor McGhee really came out hard for us on the offensive end for us and in the midfield transitions we made some really good calls. Laura Jordan stepped up coming out of the defensive end. Allison Senft gave us some support in the backfield and really stepped up when she was in the cage."

KSU as a Team
»    This year's team has 14 players returning from last season with five of those being upper classmen. Four of the players returning redshirted in 2014. Along with the returners, there are 11 true freshmen on the team.
»    The way Llanes set up the schedule this season, the returners and freshmen will have some strong competition leading into conference play, while also playing some programs that players are familiar with. Out of the ten non-conference matchups scheduled this season, the Owls will play five of the same teams that they played last year. Those teams are Elon, Vanderbilt, Davidson, Campbell and Coastal Carolina.
»    The Owls are getting an early start on the competition this season as the first four games of the season for the Owls are the first game of the season for their opponents.

KSU Individually
» McGhee cashed in with three goals to lead the Owls against Winthrop in the scoring column. It is the second time in her career she has led the Owls in goals in a game.
» Freshman Laura Jordan has made an early impact on the defensive end. She leads the team with nine ground balls and has three draw controls.
