» Kennesaw State was one of the top teams in the country picking up ground balls and winning draw controls in 2014. They picked up an average of 21.25 ground balls per game and averaged 13.92 draw controls per game.
THE COMPETITIONELON Elon is a familiar opponent for KSU as the Owls played the Phoenix last season.
In their first season as a program, Elon played in the A-Sun for one season before joining the CAA this year. In their one season in the A-Sun, the Phoenix finished second in the regular season.
The team last year was led offensively by Molly Garrigan who had 39 goals and Sloane Kesseler being the facilitator scoring 23 goals and having 22 assists.
Defensively, goalkeeper Rachel Ramirez plays very aggressively and led the team in 2014 picking up 62 ground balls and causing 24 turnovers.
LAST MEETING Despite a good defensive effort by the Kennesaw State lacrosse team, Elon went on to beat the Owls 18-7.
» NEWS AND NOTESThis Week in KSU Lacrosse» After opening up the season at Elon, the Owls will travel to Nashville, Tennessee to play the Vanderbilt Commordores Saturday, February 7 at 2 p.m. KSU has played Vandy in its first two seasons as well.
Last Time Out » Kennesaw State finished the 2014 season 1-12 with the one win coming against conference opponent Howard.
Coach Llanes on What is Motivating the Team This Season » "The most motivating piece for the team this year is the progress they have seen in themselves. Our returners continue to get stronger and our freshmen now understand what they can contribute to this season's success."
KSU as a Team » This year's team has 14 players returning from last season with five of those being upper classmen. Four of the players returning redshirted in 2014. Along with the returners, there are 11 true freshmen on the team.
» The Owls led the A-Sun in shot percentage last season. Out of 283 shots the team has scored 128 goals giving them a .452 percentage.
» Kennesaw State Owl fans showed up to support the team last season as there was an average attendance of over 300 people a game.
» The team was in the top two spots in the A-Sun in assists, ground balls, draw controls and saves per game through the five games against conference opponents.
KSU Individually » Along with the team being one of the top teams in the country in ground balls, Farwick tied for second in the country last season averaging 3.67 per game.
» In conference games last year, Farwick averaged the most points and assists in the league. She averaged 2.0 assists per game and 4.75 points per game. She also led the conference in ground balls averaging 3.75 a game.

Haley O'Donoghue and
Taylor McGhee hit their stride in A-Sun play on the offensive side of the field. O'Donoghue produced 15 of her 26 points on the season in conference play while McGhee scored seven of her 13 goals.
