Kennesaw, Ga. – Kennesaw State women's lacrosse defeated Presbyterian 13-6 Wednesday night behind Lexi Tinker's career-high six goals. The Owls' win pushes them to 3-3 on the year, marking the first time since 2024 they have been at least .500.

KEY PLAYERS: Tinker and Caleigh Shore were the engines behind the KSU offense, scoring nine of the 13 goals. Tinker added two assists to her six-goal total for a career-high of eight points. Lauren Dobbs continues to wreak havoc on opposing teams, tying the program record of six caused turnovers in a game. Sophia Nunez was an ace in the draw control circle, earning a career-high of 11.

THE RUNDOWN: The game started off slow for the Owls, only managing one goal, courtesy of Lexi Tinker, to end the first quarter ahead 1-0.  The defense played a key piece in carrying the lead through the early portion of the game, holding the Blue Hose scoreless through the first 23 minutes. Tinker and Shore came alive during the second quarter, scoring all five goals to put the Owls up 6-2 at the half, as Tinker lead the way with four goals on four shots. The Kennesaw State offense continued to overwhelm Presbyterian in the third quarter with seven draw controls and 10 shots, leading to another explosive quarter. Shore got the Owls started after halftime, scoring a hat trick goal less than a minute into the third quarter. Goals from Lavona Watkins and Natalie Charyak pushed the Owls to a 9-2 lead before Presbyterian was able to score a couple goals to shrink the lead slightly. The final minute of the third saw the fifth Tinker goal that gave the Owls an 11-4 advantage headed into the final 15 minutes of play. The fourth quarter featured Cohen Ridenour scoring her second goal of the game, before Lexi Tinker capped the night with her sixth goal in the final seconds of the game

POSTGAME QUOTE – HEAD COACH LAURA MANESS
"Lexi did a really good job placing her shots, that was huge to get high-quality shots to get us going on the board. That was really helpful because we started the first quarter really slow offensively and we needed to get in a flow. Our hope for next week's games is that we're flowing with offense sooner because it does put a big strain on our defense. Lauren Dobbs [is] playing great, getting ground balls and caused turnovers. That's what I've grown to expect; she's really having a great senior campaign, and we want her to continue being that senior leadership in the backfield, it's been so helpful."

NOTES
  • Lauren Dobbs moved into a tie for seventh place all-time in KSU history in groundballs, now sitting at 89 for her career.
  • The Owls as a team dominated the Blue Hose in shots (30-15), draw controls (18-3), and caused turnovers. (16-7)
  • KSU had a season-high five assists tonight, marking the first time this season the Owls have won the assist battle.
  • Nunez's 11 draw controls marked the first time since 2023 an Owl has totaled at least that many draw controls in a game.

NEXT TIME OUT: The Owls head up to the northeast to take on Delaware State on Monday, March 9 at 5 p.m. before traveling to Philadelphia to battle La Salle at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11.
