RUSTON, La. – Donovan Cash cemented himself atop the Kennesaw State D-I record book in career RBI after recording his 152
nd with a double off the center field wall in the seventh inning. The Owls were dropped in the 9-2 defeat to Louisiana Tech Sunday afternoon.
How It Happened
The first two innings were breezed through by both sides with zero base runners finding their way on.
The top of the third was KSU's first success as they stacked a quick two-out rally that brought one run across. During a full count,
Nate Anderson flipped an inside pitch to left field, scoring
Shamaar McDuffie from second base and signifying the first run of the game.
The middle innings was the separator between the two squads as Louisiana Tech scored in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. The Bulldogs slashed two runs in the fourth, four in the sixth and three in the sixth to hammer a 9-1 lead over the Owls.
In the seventh inning, Cash blasted his second double of the day to dead central, scoring a run or KSU.
Spotlight Performances
- Cah's RBI created a new program Division-I record holder as Cash usurped Ronnie Freeman's previous career RBI record of 151. The senior registered his 152nd RBI and now sits alone atop the D-I ledger.
- Pinson strung another solid performance together as he went four innings deep while giving up just two earned runs. It's the third straight appearance in which the righty has pitched at least three innings and given up two or less runs.
