BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – On a cold Wednesday afternoon, Kennesaw State women's lacrosse came out on fire on offense, scoring seven goals in the opening quarter on the way to a 17-5 road victory at Gardner-Webb. It was the second road win of the year for the Owls, moving them to 2-3 overall on the season.
KEY PLAYERS: Alyssa Angelo led all players with four goals and an assist for a team-high five points.
Shannon Harrington also posted four goals in the victory, while
Hannah Davis,
Lavona Watkins and
Marleigh Belinfanti all added two goals each.
THE RUNDOWN: The Owls quickly took control of the game as back-to-back goals from Harrington started a run of four goals in the first four minutes. The lead grew to 7-0 with over three minutes left in the opening quarter before Gardner-Webb finally got on the scoreboard, After the Bulldogs closed within 8-2 in the second quarter, KSU scored four of the last five of the opening half, taking a 12-3 advantage into the break. GWU would again close within eight, 13-5, before the Owls held the home team scoreless over the final 20 minutes.

NOTES
-The Owls held a commanding 42-15 edge on shots, and also held a 20-12 edge on ground balls and 18-8 on draw controls.

Natalia Cruz played the first half for KSU and allowed three goals, while
Mia Nardi played the final 30 minutes, giving up a pair of scores.
-Angelo finished with a career-high nine draw controls in the victory, while
Aislinn Pendergast led the Owls in both ground balls (four) and caused turnovers (four).
NEXT UP: The Owls are home for a Saturday contest at 2 p.m. against Furman at Fifth Third Stadium.
