KENNESAW, Ga. – Alyssa Angelo made her mark in her fourth game as an Owl Wednesday night as her career-high six goals led Kennesaw State women's lacrosse to a 28-17 win over Gardner-Webb on Wednesday night at Fifth Third Stadium. The Owls are off to a school-record 3-1 start to the year, while the 28-goal explosion is a new school mark as well.
KEY PLAYERS: Angelo was one of three players with five or more goals on Wednesday. Caroline Farley and Shannon Harrington both netted five goals each, while Hannah Barth, Hannah Davis, Mia MacKenzie, and Leyton Payne posted two goals each.
THE RUNDOWN: The Owls took an early lead after winning the draw control game 7-3 in the first quarter, helping to give KSU a 6-3 lead. The lead continued to grow in the second quarter, making it a seven-point game difference going into halftime. The Bulldogs had a close run in the third quarter after scoring four consecutive goals cutting the margin to 16-11. Harrington scored with 5:40 left on the clock in the fourth quarter to make it a 10-goal margin.

We really focused on out-hustling Gardner-Webb when it comes to winning ground balls and draw controls. NOTES
-KSU, who came into the day ranked fourth in the nation in scoring at 19 goals per game, broke the previous record for goals in a game by two with its 28 on the night. The previous record at KSU for goals in a game was 26, set against Delaware State on April 7, 2017.
-After losing the battle in draw controls 8-4 in the third quarter, the Owls came back to take the overall advantage 28-21.
-The Owls came out on top in the second quarter winning ground balls 10-2, marking the game total 17-14.
-KSU exploited free-positions finishing on eight out of 11.
