THE RUNDOWN: After the Royals opened with the first goal, the Owls held them scoreless for the next 11 minutes. KSU would score three unanswered during that run, with the second of two goals from
Hannah Davis making it a 3-1 score. Queens ended the quarter with two to tie the game at 3-3, including one goal with three seconds on the clock. KSU answered with two of the next three scores, going up 5-4 on
Shannon Harrington's goal with 4:55 to play. The Owls would not score for the next 27 minutes of the game, with Queens scoring seven unanswered to take control.
QUOTABLE:
'We started the first half strong today.
Hannah Davis really had the tempo going on offense, and it was a good day for her. Getting in card trouble though was challenging for us as they converted four penalties. Additionally, we have to do better in clearing as a team.
- KSU Head Coach Laura Maness
NEXT TIME OUT: The Owls will play a pair of games on the road next week, starting with a contest at first-place Liberty on Thursday, April 20 at 1 pm in Lynchburg, Va.
