LYNCHBURG, Va. – Kennesaw State women's lacrosse was unable to bounce back from a slow start, as the Owls fell 19-5 on the road at first place Liberty in ASUN women's lacrosse action on Thursday afternoon from the Liberty Lacrosse Field.
KEY PLAYERS: Shannon Harrington and
Caroline Farley both scored two goals each on the day for the Owls, while
Hannah Davis claimed the fifth goal.
Julia Weiss collected six saves in the net for KSU after playing the first 30 minutes.
THE RUNDOWN: The Owls were held to just one goal over the first 17 minutes, a score by Farley at 9:03 of the opening quarter to make the score 4-1. Liberty responded back with four straight for an 8-1 advantage. Harrington then posted back-to-back goals 40 seconds apart to cut the edge to 8-3. The second quarter was the best of the day for KSU, as the Owls allowed only two goals by the home team, to make the score 10-3 at the half. The Flames opened the second half with four straight for a 14-3 advantage. Davis and Farley would score both second-half goals for KSU.
QUOTABLE:
''We knew today would be a tough matchup. I'm happy with the adjustments we made after the first quarter to compete in the second. We tied them 2-2 in the second quarter. The second half we fell short and found ourselves again in card trouble which allowed Liberty to pull away. We are hoping to bounce back quickly to compete against Delaware State."
- KSU Head Coach Laura Maness
NEXT TIME OUT: The Owls travel up to Dover, Del., to face Delaware State on Saturday morning at 11 am.
