Kennesaw State treks to Montgomery, Alabama for a non-conference showdown against Alabama State Saturday evening at ASU Stadium. The clash marks the first meeting between the two programs. The game –the Owls' last road game until October 14—can be heard on ESPN Radio 1230 and 106.3 The Fan 2.

  1. Kennesaw State looks to make it two straight wins when the Owls travel to Alabama State on Saturday night for a non-conference showdown. 
  2. The Owls were one of the nation's best road teams last season, posting a 4-1 road record while averaging 38.2 points per game away from Fifth Third Bank Stadium. 
  3. Kennesaw State racked up 309 rushing yards last week versus Tennessee Tech. Through two games, the Owls have out-gained opponents by an astounding 602-193 advantage on the ground – a 409 margin. 
  4. The Owls rank first in the Big South and fifth nationally in rushing yards per game (301.0 ypg), and second in the conference with four rushing touchdowns through two weeks. 
  5. Linebacking duo of senior Izzy Sam and redshirt freshman Bryson Armstrong rank third and fourth, respectively, in the Big South amongst linebackers in tackles. Sam (21) and Armstrong (16) rank first and second on the roster. The two have combined for 3.5 TFL, 2.0 sacks, three pass breakups and two fumble recoveries. 
  6. Armstrong, the Big South Conference Freshman of the Week, is coming off another big game. The redshirt freshman from nearby Kell HS, had nine tackles, a sack, and a fumble recovery versus Tennessee Tech. He is the first Owl with fumble recoveries in consecutive games. 
  7. Junior RB Darnell Holland had a monster first half last Saturday en route to a career night. He racked up 123 yards on just three carries over the first 30 minutes, including a school-record 84-yard rush that resulted in a TD. He finished with a career-high 129 yards on four carries. The Owls are 10-2 all-time when a running back goes over 100 yards in a game. 
  8. The Owls generated a school-record five turnovers last Saturday, including three interceptions by three different players – by sophomore DB Dorian Walker, senior LB Brenton Wimberly, junior SS Taylor Henkle. It marked the first time in Owls' history three different players recorded an INT in the same game. 
  9. Zach Mitchler (RT) and Izzy Sam (LB) are the only two Owls to have started all 24 games in the program's history. Mitcher, Sam, along with Anthony Gore, Jr., Xavier Harper, Taylor Henkle, Darnell Holland, Drew McCracken, Devin Pughsley and Nicolas Snowden have played in all 24 games in program history.
  10. KSU returns 16 of 22 positional starters, including QB Chandler Burks, WRs Justin Sumpter and Xavier Harper, four of the five on the offensive line, and six of the front seven on defense.
