Previewing the Hornets in 2017
Alabama State welcomes Kenensaw State into its Hornets nest for the first meeting between the two programs at ASU Football Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 16. Kobie Jones leads the offense, entering the third week with 232 passing yards and one TD, completing 29-of-55 passes (52.7 percent). In the backfield, the Hornets' duo of Darrel King (117 yards) and Alex Anderson (50 yards) provide a combined 83.5 yards per game on the ground. Defensively, senior S Treyon Garnett and sophomore DB Joshua Hill have 14 tackles each, combining for 28 tackles (19 solo), 2.0 TFL and a sack entering Saturday. Alabama State finished 2016 with a 4-7 overall record and a 3-6 mark in conference action.
