Last season, the two teams played in the final game of the season with a birth in the A-Sun tournament on the line and the Owls won in thrilling fashion winning 15-14.
Kennesaw State Team Notes• After the split in the opening weekend of conference play, the Owls are 1-1 and have won three of four games. With a win against Mercer, it would be the Owls first winning streak in conference play since the program started.
• Last weekend's win against Stetson was the first victory for the Owls against the Hatters. In the first three seasons, the games have always been close as the Owls have been defeated by two goals the past two seasons. This season, with KSU trailing by two with a little over 10 minutes to play, the Owls finished the game on a 3-0 run to secure the first program victory over Stetson.
• This season Kennesaw State has had 14 players score goals through 10 games. Last season, the Owls had 13 goal scorers total for the entire season. Against Longwood alone, Kennesaw State had 10 different players score in the game.
•
Olivia Hokanson leads the team with 25 goals after a four-goal performance against Stetson. She has scored a goal in 16 straight games.
• In big games, big-time players step up. Against Stetson, our top three goal scorers (Hokanson,
Connor Zophy,
Sydney Farwick) totaled eight goals and then our second leading goal scorer from last season (
Taylor McGhee) also had two goals to score 10 of the 12 goals for KSU.
• Farwick was all over the field for the Owls against the Hatters as she totaled four points as well as picking up seven ground balls against Stetson. That is the second most in her career. The one game she had more ground balls was against Stetson during her freshman season when she had eight ground balls.
• A highlight against Jacksonville was
Emily Hallberg's scrappy play. She led the team picking up six ground balls in the game giving the team leader a total of 24 for the season.
Next UpKSU will travel to play Howard and Old Dominion. The Owls will play Howard on Friday, April 15 and then play Old Dominion on Sunday, April 11. It will be Kennesaw State's first trip to Old Dominion.
