The two will face off for the second year in a row as the Owls look for there first win in 2016. Last season, KSU topped the Runnin' Bulldogs 15-8 at Fifth Third Bank Stadium.
Gardner Webb has started the season off 1-5 beating St. Francis (Pa.) 12-11 in their last game. The Runnin' Bulldogs have played two other A-Sun schools to this point in the season losing to Central Michigan and Furman.
Kennesaw State Team Notes• Against Longwood, Kennesaw State had 10 different players score in the game. Last season, the Owls had 13 different players score all season.
• KSU scored a season high 15 goals against the Lancers as
Olivia Hokanson led the way with three goals and one assist.
• Hokanson is back this season after sitting out the 2015 season with an injury, and she has picked up right where she left off. Hokanson leads the Owls with nine goals after four games. With scoring in all three games, Hokanson has scored in 10 straight games dating back to 2014. In fact, out of the 17 games she has played in in her career, she has only been held scoreless in two of them.
• Freshman goalie
Alex Bunn has started all four games in the net so far this season. Against Siena, Bunn tied a school record with 16 saves keeping KSU in the game until the final whistle. In the first half, she made nine saves and had a .692 save percentage. She finished the game with a .571 save percentage.
• Overall, eight freshmen have seen the field for Kennesaw State through two games and they are providing a spark for the Owls. On the offensive end,
Haley Swift,
Taylor Catts and
Shannon Moore have combined for 13 points as Swift has five, Catts has four and Moore has four.
• In the first meeting with the Runnin' Bulldogs,
Sydney Farwick had a monster game scoring five goals and assisting on another. She also won four draw controls and picked up five ground balls in the matchup.
• Through two games, Kennesaw State has put 62 of 84 shots on frame. Against Longwood, the team put 23 of 31 shots on goal.
• The Owls had a season-high in ground balls with 24 against Longwood.
Next UpAfter taking on the Runnin' Bulldogs, KSU will stay on the road and head to Coastal Carolina to take on the Chanticleers for the fourth straight season.
