Sydney Farwick and
Laura Jordan both landed on the Preseason A-Sun All-Conference Team.
• After KSU's opening game against Vanderbilt, the Owls swept Atlantic Sun weekly awards as
Connor Zophy was Player of the Week after scoring two goals and one assists, and
Elaine Bradley was named Defensive Player of the Week after making 11 saves in 35 minutes of action.
•
Olivia Hokanson is back this season after sitting out the 2015 season with an injury, and she has picked up right where she left off. Hokanson leads the Owls with six goals early on in the season scoring two goals each game against Vandy, Davidson and Siena. With scoring in all three games, Hokanson has scored in 10 straight games dating back to 2014. In fact, out of the 16 games she has played in in her career, she has only been held scoreless in two of them.
• Freshman goalie
Alex Bunn has been huge in the net for the Owls early in the season. Against Siena, Bunn tied a school record with 16 saves keeping KSU in the game all 60 minutes. In the first half, she made nine saves and had a .692 save percentage. She finished the game with a .571 save percentage.
• Overall, eight freshmen have seen the field for Kennesaw State through two games and they are providing a spark for the Owls.
Haley Swift and
Taylor Catts both scored their first career goals against Davidson and
Shannon Moore scored her first career goal in the first half against Siena.
• So far this season, KSU has had 10 different players score in the three games. Last season, Kennesaw State had 13 different players score all season.
• Through two games, Kennesaw State has put 32 of their 54 shots on frame. Against Siena, the team put 16 of their 22 shots on goal.
• The team set a season high with 12 caused turnovers in the game.
Laura Jordan led the way on those causing four turnovers, which sets a new career high for her.
Next UpKennesaw State will head out on the road for the first time in 2016 to face Gardner Webb on Wednesday, March 9 at 4 p.m.
