KENNESAW, Ga.
– Kennesaw State men’s tennis senior Gokalp Ozdemir has been named the next recipient of the Owls of Excellence Award, a first-year honor instituted this fall by the Department of Athletics.
The Owls of Excellence Award was formed to recognize Kennesaw State student-athletes who excel in their chosen sport, in the classroom, and provide service to the community. A different student-athlete will be honored monthly and featured on the Department of Athletics’ website,
KSUOwls.com.
Ozdemir, a four-year member of the men’s tennis team, has been named to the Dean’s List and the President’s List following the first three years of his collegiate career. He is also a Golden Key International Honor Society member and a three-time Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athlete.
The captain of the men’s tennis team is also a leader off the court, volunteering at multiple organizations and events, including Dream Makers to teach disabled children how to play tennis, as well as the Georgia Ovarian Cancer Alliance, the First United Lutheran Church and at the Big Shanty Elementary School for the Junior Owls Reading Challenge.
The Ankara, Turkey native is a finance major and owns a 3.86 GPA. He is a three-time A-Sun All-Academic honoree, as well as a two-time Conference Scholar.
