Kennesaw, Ga. – Kennesaw State women's basketball redshirt sophomore guard
Clara Young has been named the recipient of the Owls of Excellence Award for the month of November, announced Friday (Dec. 11) morning.
The Owls of Excellence Award was instituted in August of 2012 and established to recognize Kennesaw State student-athletes who excel in their chosen sport, in the classroom, and provide service to the community. A different student-athlete is honored and featured monthly on the Department of Athletics' website, KSUOwls.com.
Young follows suit, who is not only excelling on the court but off the court as well. The Woodstock, Georgia native is a sport management major with an overall 3.75 GPA in her time at Kennesaw State, and is always on time to meetings at SASS. Young, part of the Flight Plan, and SASS have discussed after college goals which include remaining involved with the game of basketball and are currently looking for internship opportunities.
Young is equally impressive on the court for the Owls, averaging 7.0 points per game in 25.8 minutes of action. The guard is shooting 37 percent from beyond the arc and 36 percent overall from the field. Young has played in all nine games thus far, making three starts for Kennesaw State. Her best outing for the Owls came against SEC foe Florida on the road, scoring 11 of her 13 points in the second half.
KSU will continue its 2015-16 season with a non-conference tilt versus Austin Peay on Saturday (Dev. 12) at the KSU Convocation Center on ESPN3.
