CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Kennesaw State women's lacrosse suffered a 17-7 road loss on Saturday afternoon at Queens, as the Owls were limited to just one goal after halftime. KSU dropped to 1-3 in ASUN play with the setback while the host Royals improved to 1-1 in league action
KEY PLAYERS: Shannon Harrington and
Marleigh Belinfanti led the Owls with a pair of goals each.
THE RUNDOWN: Queens scored the first three goals of what was a very physical contest. Belinfanti then put the Owls on the scoreboard with a goal at the 5:43 mark of the first quarter. The Royals would score three of the next four for a 6-2 advantage. An
Alyssa Angelo free position score was the start of a run of four Owl goals over the next six scores in the contest. Harrington capped that run with back-to-back goals just 13 seconds apart to make it an 8-6 contest with just under two minutes in the half. Queens would score a key goal with just 13 seconds left in on the clock to grab a 9-6 halftime edge, and then outscored the Owls 3-0 in the third quarter for a 12-6 lead on the way to the win.
NEXT UP: The Owls will play a second straight road game when they take on Liberty in Lynchburg, Va., on Saturday, April 12 in an 11 a.m. contest.
