Kennesaw, Ga. – The Kennesaw State Owls outhit the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs 11–10 on Friday evening at Bailey Park, but ultimately came up short in an 11–6 loss.
The Owls showed resilience by generating a four-run rally in the fourth inning to keep the game within reach. Despite the strong performance at the plate, KSU struggled to contain LA Tech's multi-run innings.
How It Happened
Louisiana Tech struck first in the opening frame, taking advantage of a Kennesaw State error and adding an RBI single to grab an early 1–0 lead.
The Bulldogs extended their advantage with a three-run third inning, highlighted by a two-run triple that dropped into the left-center gap, pushing the score to 4–0.
Kennesaw State responded in the bottom of the third. Jojo Johnson ignited the offense with an RBI double that rolled to the wall in left center. Ana Gore and Lexie Shaver followed with solid base hits to cut the deficit in half, making it 4–2.
The momentum briefly shifted back to LA Tech in the top of the fourth, as a two-run single through the left side and a wild pitch pushed their lead to 7–2.
The Owls weren't done yet. In the bottom of the fourth, Ava Guzowski roped a double to the gap in left center, plating a run. Moments later, Johnson came through again, driving a two-RBI double to left center to make it 7–5. Gore kept the rally going with an RBI double sliced down the right field line, bringing KSU within one. Shaver followed with her second hit of the day, but the Owls were unable to draw even.
KSU stayed silent in the later innings, while LA Tech capitalized again in the sixth with four insurance runs, including a pair of back-to-back doubles to seal the game.
