Kennesaw, GA – The Kennesaw State Owls (9-22, 0-7 CUSA) fell to Sam Houston (15-15, 4-3 CUSA) after the Bearkats came in hot with a three run first inning. Taylor Daniel shined in relief, only allowing three hits across the final four frames.

How It Happened

The Owls began with a promising start as Hannah Harvey doubled to left center. Lexie Shaver followed reaching base with a hit by a pitch, putting two runners on base. However, a double play and a groundout ended the inning scoreless.

The Bearkats put numbers on the board early, starting with a bunt single and a walk. A double to center field drove in two runs, followed by two more singles that brought in another run. With three back-to-back outs, Sam Houston stranded two runners, closing the first inning 3-0.

The Owls struggled to gain momentum in the second inning. Macie Howes managed to single to third base, followed by walks from Madison Miller and Ty Hardeman. Despite the bases being loaded, the Owls couldn't bring in any runs.

After a tough second inning without capitalizing on a runner in scoring position, the Bearkats extended their lead to 5-0 in the third with a two-run homer to left-center field.

The Owls continued their efforts to get on the board in the fourth as Howes managed a single to left field, and Miller walked, advancing Howes to second. However, both Owls were left on base.

Despite the scoreless fourth inning from both sides, Sam Houston added another lone run in the fifth inning with a single to right center field to bring another Bearkat across home plate.

The Owls barely escaped a base loaded jam, only allowing one to cross home on a base-loaded walk, extending their lead to 7-0.

KSU had a chance to get on the board in the seventh when Harvey reached on a passed ball and Guzowski singled to the left. The Owls were unable to convert, resulting in a 7-0 shutout win for the Bearkats.

Quick Hits
