How It Happened
Cam Suto jumpstarted the game with a leadoff double into the left-center alley in the second inning. After advancing to third base, Suto was brought home off the bloop single to right field from
Jackson Chirello, taking the one-run lead.
Wesley Alig walloped a single through the middle of the infield, registering base runners on the corner for KSU.
Evan Holstein then twisted a shot past third base, scampering into the left corner of the outfield. Chirello and Alig both scored on the play, boosting the Owls to a three-run advantage.
A single run was scored by the Eagles in the bottom of the second inning, chipping into a one-run game. Georgia Southern then posted two runs in the sixth inning, tying up the game 3-3 going into the final three sagas.
Starting the seventh inning, Alig once again pummeled a base hit, setting the table for the bottom of the Owls lineup. Following a Holstein sacrifice bunt,
Shamaar McDuffie stole the game back from the nine hole. The shortstop shot the ball to the right field fence for a one-out double, scoring Alig and launching KSU to a 4-3 lead.
The Eagle took their first lead of the game with a two-run shot to deep central, creating a 5-4 hometown lead.
