KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State (3-7) closed out the Kennesaw State Tournament on a high note, powering past Northern Kentucky with a 9-3 victory at Bailey Park. The Owls took control in the middle innings, highlighted by Ana Gore's two-run double and Ava Guzowski's three-run blast.

How It Happened

Northern Kentucky struck first in the opening frame, using a leadoff double, a stolen base, and an RBI single to take a 1-0 lead. KSU starter Emma Friedel quickly settled in, retiring the next three batters to limit the damage.

The Owls responded in the third inning, capitalizing on scoring opportunities. After a leadoff single from Ty Hardeman and a walk drawn by Hannah Harvey, Gore delivered a two-run double to the right side, giving KSU a 2-1 lead.

Kennesaw State broke the game open in the fourth. With two runners on, Lexie Shaver came through with an RBI single to extend the lead. Moments later, Guzowski crushed a three-run home run, clearing the bases and putting the Owls up 7-1.

Northern Kentucky pushed back in the sixth, scoring two runs on three hits, but KSU quickly answered in the bottom half. After a single from Harvey and Guzowski, Gore doubled through the right side, pushing the lead to 9-3.

Leah Jannakos entered in relief and shut the door in the seventh, working around a walk to secure the Owls' third win to close the tournament.

Quick Hits:

  • Ava Guzowski went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and three RBIs, extending her hitting streak to five games.
