MARIETTA, Ga. – Kennesaw State women's lacrosse played its third straight road game of the season on Wednesday night, and wasted no time in taking a commanding 8-0 first quarter lead on the way to an 18-1 victory at Life University. The win moved KSU to 1-2 for the season, while it was the season opener for the Running Eagles.

KEY PLAYERS: Hannah Davis led the Owls with her first hat trick of the season, while freshmen Marleigh Belinfanti and Lexi Tinker both finished with two goals and two assists each for four points. Natalia Cruz played the opening 30 minutes in goal and collected five saves without allowing a score.

THE RUNDOWN: Davis and Shannon Harrington combined for five of the Owls' first eight goals, with Davis' third of the night making its an 8-0 score with just under ten seconds left in the opening quarter. The Owls kept up the scoring in the third quarter with scores from Alyssa Angelo, her second of the game, Lavona Watkins and Lexi Tinker that put KSU ahead 11-0 at halftime. KSU added a pair of goals in the third quarter to go up 13-0, and scored five of the six goals in the fourth to account for the final 18-1 margin.

POSTGAME QUOTES – Head Coach Laura Maness
"Very good team effort today. I thought Natalia Cruz in cage did a great job in the backfield and our offense had a great well-rounded effort. We emphasized hustle plays like ground balls and draw control wins during our game prep so I'm proud the team won these stat lines. Additionally happy for those that got their first goals of career in Courtney Kakac, Aria Hannon and Marleigh Belinfanti.

NOTES
-Harrington finished with two goals, as did Angelo and Sydney Bumstead. Finishing with one goal each was Cate Cummings, Watkins, Kakac, Hannon and Cohen Ridenour.
-KSU finished with a 38-11 edge on shots, including 23-5 in the first half.
-The Owls finished with a 15-9 edge on ground balls and caused 16 turnovers.

NEXT UP: The Owls will play their home opener on Sunday against Canisius at 12 p.m. at Fifth Third Stadium.
