KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State rallied from a four-goal third-quarter deficit to tie the game at 15-15, but Stetson would score four of the final five goals of the afternoon to escape with a 19-15 win over the Owls on Sunday in Atlantic Sun Conference women's lacrosse action from Fifth Third Stadium.
KEY PLAYERS: Natalie Welch tied her career-high with five goals to pace the Owls, while
Shannon Harrington added four goals for KSU.
Hannah Barth finished with five points (two goals and three assists), and
Alyssa Angelo posted five assists, which was just one off the KSU single-game record.
THE RUNDOWN: The game was in the Owls' favor to start, as Harrington scored three unanswered for a 5-1 lead with just over three minutes left in the first quarter. Stetson answered with a 3-0 run of its own and would grab an 11-10 edge going into halftime. The Hatters scored four of the first five goals of the third quarter to go up 15-11, before the Owls made their run. A score from Angelo was the first of four straight for KSU, while Welch's score at 12:45 of the fourth quarter tied the game at 15-15. Less than a minute later Stetson went back up by one, and KSU was held scoreless until the final three minutes.
NOTES:
-Advantages in both ground balls (18-11) and turnovers (16-18) were key for Stetson, to overcome KSU's edge in draw controls (21-18). The Owls had trailed in draw controls 13-10 in the opening half, before holding an 11-5 edge in the second 30 minutes.

Julia Weiss (five saves) split time in the goal for KSU.
NEXT TIME OUT: The Owls will close out the 2024 home schedule with a Senior Day contest on Saturday, April 13, against Liberty at 12 pm. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
