NASHVILLE – Kennesaw State baseball hit three home runs en route to a 15-2 run-rule victory over Belmont on Wednesday night at Rose Park. The win moves the Owls (6-6) to 13-9 in the all-time series with the Bruins (7-6).
Offensively, KSU collected 10 hits with all nine starters reaching base safely. Seven of the nine recorded a base knock in the contest while Brayden Eidson led the way with a perfect 4-for-4 afternoon.
Eidson finished with a home run, double and two singles and ended only a triple shy of the cycle. The first baseman also scored three times and drew one walk in the win.
Isaac Bouton added his team-leading fourth home run of the year and ended 1-for-3. The senior earned two walks and scored twice in the contest.
Hudson Mimbs made his first start of the season at second base and scored three runs for the Owls. The junior was 1-for-3 with a two-run homer at the plate.
Nick Hassan, Donovan Cash, Jackson Chirello and Nate Anderson also added base knocks.
The KSU pitching staff used five arms to hold the Bruins to two runs.
Bo Rhudy (3-0) made the first start of his collegiate career and tossed the first two innings. The freshman allowed one run on two hits en route to his team-leading third win on the mound.
Nolan Sliver threw the third and fourth innings, holding Belmont to one run on one hit. He also struck out one Bruin in his outing.
Tyler Franks, Halton Hardy and Daniel Powell each worked one inning to close out the run-rule shortened game. The trio did not allow any runs in the final three frames.
The Owls struck for one run in the top of the first, but the Bruins tied things up in the second.
Kennesaw State scored five runs over the third and fourth frames to jump out to a 6-2 lead.
After scoring once in the top of the fifth, KSU used an eight-run sixth inning to break the game wide open. The Owls drew seven walks and had two base knocks to blow the game open, 15-2.
Powell kept Belmont off the board in the bottom of the seventh to give Kennesaw State the run-rule victory.
Kennesaw State baseball is back in action Friday for a weekend series at No. 25 Kentucky. First pitch is set for 4:00 p.m. and will be broadcasted live on SEC Network+.
