NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Kennesaw State put up a tough battle, nearly taking the opening set and sending the match to four before eventually falling 3-1 (25-23, 25-16, 23-25, 25-21) on the road at Lipscomb in Atlantic Sun volleyball action on Friday night at the Allen Arena.  The Owls dropped to 11-10, 4-5 in ASUN play with the setback while the Bison moved to 13-6, 8-1 in league action.

STAT OF THE GAME: Lipscomb posted 10 service aces in the match to just three for the Owls, while KSU also committed five more service errors (8-3). That offset KSU's advantage in both kills (58-56) and hitting percentage (.270-.236).

THE RUNDOWN – KSU held a 13-9 edge in set one before a 7-1 spurt put the home team ahead. The Owls would come back to tie the score several times, the last at 23-23, before Lipscomb escaped after scoring the last two points. Set two saw Lipscomb jump out to a 6-0 advantage, and the lead stayed at three or more points the rest of the way. In the third set, Lipscomb was up 15-12 but the Owls wouldn't go away quietly. Trailing 21-19, the Owls used a pair of 3-0 runs to claim their first set win. Set four saw an early 5-0 run give Lipscomb an 8-3 lead. KSU would stay within distance, and trailing 23-17, the Owls scored four of the next five to make it a 24-21 game before a kill from the Bison sealed the loss.

POSTGAME QUOTES
KSU HEAD COACH KEITH SCHUNZEL
"We got a lot of young kids on the floor right now who are doing a lot of good things and I'm proud of them because there's quite a bit more on their plate than what was originally planned. Tomorrow night is now a massive game for us in a lot of ways. We need to regroup and figure out a way to play a complete match on the road and earn a road win."

NOTES
-Manu Johnsen reached 20+ kills for the third time in four games with 21, and added 13 digs for a double-double. Also posting double-figures in kills was Emma Schurfranz and Maggie Butkovich, both with 13 each.
