KENNESAW, Ga. – For the eighth straight year, Kennesaw State volleyball has been honored for its academic excellence as the Owls have earned the 2026 USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award, the national organization announced on Thursday.
The USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year honors collegiate teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.
This is now the 10th time in program history that the Owls have received the AVCA award, with all 10 coming during Head Coach
Keith Schunzel's tenure (previously in 2014, 2015, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025).
The team finished the year with an average 3.54 GPA with 15 players earning a 3.0 or better in the spring semester, while four Owls recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA. In addition, four Owls earned CSC Academic All-District team recognition from last fall.
