KSU vs Liberty Box Score
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Kennesaw State scored 46 seconds into the contest, but was shut down the rest of the afternoon by the Liberty defense, scoring just two more goals over the next 54 minutes on the way to a 21-6 loss to the second-seeded Flames in an ASUN Women's Lacrosse semifinal contest from Rock Stadium on the Jacksonville University campus.
Despite the setback, the third-seeded Owls still ended the season with several notable school records set, with the biggest being a new mark for most wins in a season with 11 (11-7 overall record).
Liberty face-guarded KSU star senior
Siena Gore, the ASUN Player of the Year, the entire contest. The strategy paid off as the Owls were unable to find enough offense with Gore struggling to get touches. For the game, KSU was outshot by a 40-14 margin, including 31-8 on shots on goal. Turnovers were also a key factor in the game, as KSU committed 26 in the game to just 14 for the Flames.
Another deciding factor was the noticeable difference in free position shots. The Owls entered the afternoon almost doubling up their opponents on free position attempts (123-65) and tripling them on free position goals (59-19). On Thursday, the Owls were held without a single free position shot for the first time in five years and just the fourth time ever in program history. Liberty meanwhile was awarded nine free position shots and scored on four of its attempts.
