FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Kennesaw State men's tennis team suffered its first ASUN conference loss of the season falling 5-2 at FGCU on Sunday.
The loss dropped the Owls to 12-5 overall and 4-1 in ASUN Conference play.
The Eagles won five singles matches to clinch the victory.
KSU grabbed the early momentum capturing the doubles point with wins on courts two and three.
Raul Garcia and
Harvey Conway picked up a 6-4 victory over Marcelo Sepulveda and Juan Montes.
Sergio Ingles and
Seru Tezuka downed Eric Oncins and Randy Wilson 7-6 (7-1) to clinch the point.
FGCU would win the first five singles matches. Garcia picked up the Owls lone singles win over Sepulveda 7-6 (7-3), 4-6, 1-0 (10-7).
Harvey Conway,
Hugo Salmeron and
Kevin Patel all advanced their matches to three sets before falling.
KSU continues ASUN conference play as it hosts Jacksonville State on Friday, Apr. 8. Match time is set for 2 p.m. at the Betty Siegel Courts.
