KENNESAW, Ga. — Kennesaw State men's tennis will retake the court at The Country Club of Birmingham (CCB) Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama, Oct. 23-25.

The tournament's field includes host Samford, Charleston, Louisiana, North Alabama and Tulane.

KSU is coming off a series of strong performances at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Southeast Regional Championships Oct. 14-16 in Atlanta.

Dominic Ducariu opened the tournament facing Georgia State's Pietro Bonivento in the singles qualifying round of 64. After dispatching his Panther opponent in straight sets (6-0, 6-2), Ducariu surged into the main draw with a round of 32 win over Florida Gulf Coast's Jonathan Baron (6-4, 7-5).

Despite eventually falling to Carlini Gianluca of Georgia Tech, Ducariu gave the Yellow Jacket all he could handle in a 6-7 (2-7), 7-5, 4-6 main draw decision. Nathan Walters and Xavi Ferrer joined Ducariu with singles qualifying round of 64 wins.

Walters topped Davis Taylor of Georgia Southern (6-1, 7-5), while Ferrer overcame Georgia Tech's Owen DeMuth 6-7 (3-7), 6-3, 6-2.

More success followed for the Owls in the doubles round of 64 with Konstantinos Megalemos and Kyvan Rietkerk, as well as Ferrer and Walters recording wins.

Megalemos and Rietkerk posted their fifth win of the season in an 8-5 defeat of UCF's Clement Lemire and Nicolas Oliveira. Ferrer and Walters rolled by North Florida's Youssef Labbene and Noah Sauer in an 8-1 decision.

Walters and Rietkerk currently lead KSU with four fall singles wins apiece. Megalemos and Rietkerk's five doubles wins is also good for the team lead.
