BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Kennesaw State men's tennis recorded nine wins during a weekend of fall tournament action at The Country Club of Birmingham Invite, Oct. 23-25.
"After a slow start on day one of the tourney, the players responded well in singles," said KSU assistant coach
Randall Knox. "It was great to see
Xavi Ferrer and
Konstantinos Megalemos make the final in their doubles draw. I am extremely pleased with the way the guys bounced back and ended the tournament on a positive note."
While playing their first doubles match together this season, Ferrer and Megalemos reached their final with a 7-5 defeat of East Tennessee State's Marc Sala Pages and Eduardo Andreta. The Owls notched a second doubles win with
Juan Parrilla and
Kyvan Rietkerk topping Harry Abel of Charleston and Lance Nisbet of Tulane in a 7-5 decision.
Rietkerk, Megalemos and Parrilla each posted two wins in singles to finish the tournament strong.
With a 6-2, 6-3 win over Whitman Davis of North Alabama and a 6-0, 7-5 defeat of the Cougars' Abel, Rietkerk moved to 6-2 on the season in singles play.
