KENNESAW, Ga. – Sophomore Isabella Contreras scored two second-half goals to lead the Kennesaw State women's soccer team to a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over visiting NJIT in an ASUN Conference match Saturday afternoon at Fifth Third Bank Stadium.

The Senior Day win kept alive the Owls' (7-6-3, 2-3-1) ASUN Conference Tournament hopes with one match remaining.

The Highlanders (7-8-0, 1-5-0) capitalized on a breakdown by the KSU back line less than two minutes into the match to take a 1-0 lead that they carried into halftime.

Kennesaw State came out in the second half with energy and found its rhythm, tying the match at the 46:50 mark and taking its first lead when Contreras scored in the 80th minute.

QUOTING THE COACH
"I'm proud of the way the girls played. NJIT has some attacking players that were pretty dangerous all game long," head coach Benji Walton said. "We had to solve some problems and still find a way to create chances. We were able to shoot a little bit more and finally got some corner kicks in the second half and that was good to see.

"We need a come-from-behind win like this to build our confidence," Walton added. "I'm happy for the team and hopefully we can build on it moving forward."

WALTON ON ISABELLA CONTRERAS
"We needed somebody to step and Isabella put the team on her back today and that was big for our whole team's morale," Walton said.

MADY CARTER BIG IN GOAL
With NJIT holding a 1-0 lead, Kennesaw State senior goalkeeper Mady Carter came up with potentially the play of the match as she turned back a penalty kick in the 32nd minute that prevented the Owls from falling behind 2-0.

"Mady's save was huge. That could have buried us," Walton said. "If she doesn't make that play, I don't know how the match would have turned out. It is awesome to have a senior come up with that bigtime save. I'm proud of her and it really picked up our whole team."

A WIN FOR THE SENIORS
"It's big to get a win on Senior Day," Walton said. "When I came in, these guys bought in as much as any players that I have ever had, and that's the biggest compliment a coach can receive. To give them a win on their last regular season home game was huge for them, and was a priority for us all week long. I am happy for them, and hopefully we can extend the season for them."
