NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Kennesaw State women's soccer team capped its regular season with an impressive performance, defeating ASUN Conference regular season co-champion Lipscomb, 1-0, Saturday night in Nashville to clinch an ASUN Conference Tournament berth.
Â
The Owls (8-6-3, 3-3-1) earned the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament and will host North Florida in a quarterfinal match Sunday (Oct. 29) at Fifth Third Bank Stadium beginning at 1 p.m. (ET).
Â
THE WINNING SCORE
Kennesaw State scored just before the end of the first half when it capitalized on a corner kick opportunity. Sophomore
Morgan Harrison served the corner kick into the box where senior
Abby Roth got a touch on the ball, and following a deflection, senior
Carly Pressgrove found open space in the back of the goal. The score gave the Owls a 1-0 lead with 5:43 remaining in the first half.

QUOTING THE COACH
"I'm so proud of this team tonight. We've had an up and down second half of the season but these ladies have kept their head up and continued working," head coach
Benji Walton said. "Tonight's win came about because of their resiliency to not quit on each other and fight for one another.
Â
"It's one of the best feelings as a coach when you see your team click as a group," Walton added. "We are happy to get this win for our seniors and provide them the opportunity to play another home game. I hope Owl Nation will come out to the "Bank" next Sunday and support us as we kick off our postseason."
Â
SORNPAO RETURNS
Redshirt freshman goalkeeper
Tiffany Sornpao returned to the starting lineup and earned the victory after recording three saves and registering her sixth shutout of the season.
Â
