- This will be the sixth consecutive season the two teams will play each other in a home-and-home series, dating back to 2011.
- In fact, GSU and KSU have played each other in eight of the Owls' 10 seasons since joining the Atlantic Sun Conference in 2006 and becoming a D-I member.
- In the 10 meetings since 2011, the two teams are an even 5-5. Kennesaw State holds a 3-2 mark at JJ Clements Stadium, while the Eagles are 3-2 at Stillwell Stadium.
- In those 10 meetings, the two squads have played evenly, as the Owls have outscored the Eagles 51-48 in those 10 games.
Howell Heating Up…-
Jeremy Howell, a junior third baseman from Dallas, Georgia, totaled his best weekend in 2016 at the plate hitting .556 (5-for-9) in three games.
- The third baseman entered the weekend batting just .259, but will enter the new week with a .333 batting average, raising his BA point total by 74 points.
- Howell, for the season, has tallied 12 hits –which ranks second on the team—with four doubles—leads the team—and four RBI. He also has a .444 slugging percentage and a .419 on-base percentage.
- Howell is the only Owl to play in all 11 games this season, making nine starts at third base.

Team Facts Thus Far…- The Owls have outscored opponents 53-36 in the second, fourth, sixth and ninth innings combined, and are a perfect 5-0 when scoring first in a ballgame.
- Kennesaw State has done well when leading after six innings, holding a 5-1 mark when leads after six, a 5-0 mark when leading after seven and a perfect 4-0 when leading after eight.
- Part of that reason is the pitching duo of
Richard Lovelady and
Erich Stahl in the backend of the bullpen.
- Lovelady is 2-0—which leads the team in wins—in 7.2 innings of work on the mound. Lovelady has struck out nine batters and has totaled a .174 opponent batting average against, allowing just four hits.
- Stahl is a perfect 3/3 in save situations and owns a 1.80 ERA.

LaDonis Bryant leads the team in batting with a .370 average in eight games. He also has 10 hits –which ranks third on the team—and one double.

Batting Practice…- The Kennesaw State University baseball program begins its 33
rd season of varsity play in 2016 when the Owls take part in the annual Atlanta Classic for three games.
- KSU enters the 2016 season with an all-time record of 1,152-687-2 (.626) entering the season.
- The Owls, who began Division I play in 2006, have an all-time record of 303-267 (.531) in 10 seasons since joining the Atlantic Sun Conference.
- Head coach
Mike Sansing enters his 25th season at the helm of the Black and Gold. Sansing holds a career mark of 1,020-550 (.654) as the manager of the Owls.
- Coach Sansing won his 1,000
th career game on March 27, 2015 against USC Upstate.
- Sansing's three assistant coaches return for another season with the Owls in 2015.
Kevin Erminio enters his 10
th season as the assistant head coach and pitching coach, while
Derek Simmons and
Trey Fowler each return for their fourth season under Sansing. Assistant athletic trainer
Chris Archambeault also returns to the Owls' bench for his ninth season.

Dibrell Back To The Bump..- Sophomore righty
Tony Dibrell will make his second start of the season on the mound against the Eagles.
- Dibrell will enter the week with a 0-0 record and a 4.91 ERA in 7.1 innings of work. He has allowed four runs on 10 hits and has 12 punch outs –which ranks second on the team.
- Dibrell made his first start of the season last Tuesday against Ohio, working 4.1 innings allowing four runs on nine hits, while striking out seven batters.
