A-SUN RELEASEÂ
KENNESAW, Ga. – After registering her second brace of the season, Kennesaw State soccer junior
Cassidy Kemp earned her first career Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week accolade, the league announced on Tuesday (Sept. 8).
Â
"We are delighted for Cassidy and the team," said head coach
Rob King. "With a couple of key injuries on the squad, we have particularly charged our junior class to perform at a consistently high level every game. Cassidy has risen to that challenge and is having her best season to date."
Â
It is the second A-Sun Player of the Week honor for the Owls this season after redshirt-junior
Brittney Reed took home the first accolade of the season on Aug. 24.
Â
Kemp netted a pair of goals to propel the Owls to a 3-2 win over The Citadel on Sunday, including the eventual game winner in the 82nd minute of the match. It was the second time this season that she has posted two goals in a game as she also punched in two scores against Alabama A&M in the Owls' season opener.
Â
The LaGrange, Ga., native ranks second in the A-Sun with five goals and is third in the conference with 11 points this season. She has also recorded an assist in 2015.
Â
Kemp and the Owls will be back in action on Friday as they travel to Greenville, S.C., for a 7 p.m. ET contest at Furman.
