DALLAS – Kennesaw State midfielders
Alana Nesbit and
Sydni Whitehead were named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team, announced by the conference office Wednesday afternoon.
It's the first postseason accolade for Nesbit and Whitehead's first at KSU, her second overall. She was previously named to the 2023 ASUN All-Freshman at Bellarmine.
Nesbit, pursuing her degree in software engineering, earned a 3.95 GPA while Whitehead is majoring in marketing and boasts a 4.0 GPA.
The senior set career highs in games played (17), shots (15) and shots-on-goal (7). She scored her first goal of the season off a set piece against in-state rival Mercer (9/4) then opened up conference play with an assist at Western Kentucky (9/21).
Whitehead was one of two players to start all 17 matches for the Black and Gold, slotting in as the team's number six. The 17 starts extends her streak to 55 straight starts, dating back to her freshman year at Bellarmine.
She scored her first goal at The Saw during the Owls' dominant 7-1 victory over Alabama State back on Sept. 17.
The Alpharetta, Ga. native played all 90 minutes in eight matches, doing so in six of the last seven contests.
