Game Preview
The Kennesaw State Soccer team returns home to host a pair of matches this weekend, opening against Chattanooga on Friday (Aug. 28), before taking on Clayton State on Sunday (Aug. 30). Both matches are scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m. ET in Fifth Third Bank Stadium and can been seen on ESPN3.
 
This will be the first-ever meeting between the Owls and Mocs, while KSU holds a 4-1-0 advantage over the Lakers, including a 2-0 win in the teams' last meeting on Sept. 9, 2011 in Kennesaw.
 
Owls Drop Hard-Fought Nail Biter to Panthers, 3-2
 In a high-paced, back-and-forth match, the Kennesaw State soccer team dropped a 3-2 decision to Georgia State on a hot and humid Monday night (Aug. 24) at the GSU Soccer Complex.
 
Key Players: Brittney Reed (one goal, one assist, 11 shots, eight shots on goal), Cassidy Kemp (one goal, one shot on goal)
 
KSU Team Notes
- Redshirt-junior Brittney Reed collected a pair of honors this week after her record-breaking performance against Alabama A&M in KSU's season opener last Friday. She earned the first National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) College Player of the Week honor of the season, as well as the year's first Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week.
 
- Reed netted six goals and 12 points against the Bulldogs, marking programs records for most goals and points in a single contest.
 
- Reed also came within one goal of the NCAA Division I record, while her five first-half scores equaled the NCAA Division I record for most goals in a half.
 
- Junior Cassidy Kemp scored the Owls' first goal against Georgia State, making it her third score of the season. With her goal, Kemp now ranks second in the A-Sun and on the team with seven points on three goals and an assist.
 
- Reed posted her team-leading seventh goal of the season on the Owls' second score against the Panthers - converting KSU's first penalty kick of the season. Along with her assist on Kemp's goal, Reed now has 15 points, which leads all players in the A-Sun.
 
- In just two contests, Reed has passed last season's goals and points leader, Maggie Gaughan, who totaled six goals and 13 points in 2014.
 
- The Owls have outshot both of its opponents this season by a margin of 52 to 11, with 33 of KSU's shots coming on frame.
 
- With 14 goals and nine assists in the first two matches, the Owls are averaging seven scores and 4.5 helpers per contest in 2015.
 
- The Owls' win over Alabama A&M last Friday registers the first season-opening win for the Owls since 2010 and the first home-opening win since 2011.
 
- KSU as a team set two program records against the Bulldogs, including the most points (32) registered in a single game and most goals score (12) in a single game.
