COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Kennesaw State soccer wrapped up its August slate with a 0-0 draw to Tennessee Tech this Sunday afternoon.
The Black and Gold had plenty of chances, outshooting TTU 16-5 but could never find a goal.
Coach Chris Cahill's Remarks
It's positive to see new players step up, create chances, and keep another clean sheet," Cahill said. "Unfortunately we couldn't put anything in the back of the net and we didn't get the result we wanted."
First Half
Julia Balchen – who came on as a sub in today's fixture – provided a boost to KSU's offense in the first half. Shortly after subbing on, she found an opening, registering the Owls' first shot of the afternoon.
In the final few minutes of the half, Balchen was on a breakaway and the keeper came up. The sophomore went low with her shot, but the ball rolled just wide left to keep the match tied.
Second Half
In the 57
th minute,
Melianne Berthe had a chance to put the Owls up. The freshman took the ball down the left flank, carrying it into the box. She ripped a shot, but the TTU goalkeeper leapt in the air and saved the chance. Off the corner, Berthe had another look, but it sailed just over the crossbar.
With the game tied in the 82
nd minute, the Golden Eagles generated their best scoring chance of the entire afternoon. They built up play and found a player in the box. The initial point-blank shot was saved by
Charlee Bernall before the rebound reached Kennedy Dade. Dade's shot hit off the left post and redirected right back to Bernal.

The Black and Gold will continue their road trip and head to Alabama to play Troy on Friday night. The contest is scheduled for 7 p.m.
