KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women's lacrosse team took on No. 26 Jacksonville Dolphins on Saturday, April 18 and put some pressure on JU, but came up short as the Dolphins won by a score of 19-3.
"Jacksonville is a well run program and one that has confident veteran players," head coach
Kristina Llanes said. "The score did not indicate how well we played for the first 45 minutes of the game. Breakdowns in transition cost us offensive opportunities today."
Sydney Farwick and
Taylor McGhee each had a goal and an assist in the game.
Emily Hallberg got the other goal for the Owls.
Farwick's goal came at the 22:23 mark in the first half and brought KSU within one goal at 2-1.
The Dolphins held the Owls scoreless until Hallberg scored the final goal of the opening half bringing the score to 10-2 at halftime.
In the second half, McGhee scored her 27
th goal of the season and 13
th goal on a free position attempt.
Connor Zophy and
Haley O'Donoghue each had three ground balls.
Laura Jordan chipped in with two ground balls and a caused two turnovers.
Elaine Bradley got the start and made eight saves and three ground balls in a little over 47 minutes.
Next Saturday, the Owls will celebrate senior day as the team will honor
Allison Senft against Mercer at 6 p.m. The game will be broadcasted on ESPN3.
