KENNESAW, Ga. –
With a one-goal lead, Allison Senft came up with her 15th save of the night with under five seconds to go to preserve the victory for the Kennesaw State women's lacrosse team.

"We knew it was going to be a hard fought battle," head coach Kristina Llanes said. "LIU is a tough, scrappy team, and they came off a really tight game earlier in the week, so we were expecting it to be hard. We were going to have to work hard for every single opportunity."

After the Blackbirds tied the game with 2:18 left, Laura Jordan caused a turnover to get the Owls the ball back. After getting the ball into the offensive zone, Sydney Farwick zipped a pass to Monica Albertson for the game-winning goal.

Albertson's two goals in the game and gave the Owls their only two leads of the night.

LIU started fast getting out to a 4-1 lead and then extending their lead to 6-2. Kennesaw State closed the half with a couple of goals to trail 7-4 at halftime.

Taylor McGhee carried the Owls offensively in the first half scoring three of the team's four goals.

Coming out of the locker room, KSU knew they would have to be the tougher team, and Llanes was really proud of the way the team battled through the early deficit.

"We are just fighters," Llanes said. "We came out here wanting to win and put in a lot of work since our last game. We were disappointed with our last result, and we didn't want to settle for that again."

Knowing they needed to start fast, Farwick sparked the Owls with two quick goals to draw Kennesaw State within two only 4:43 into the second half.

The Blackbirds slowed the game down from there trying to maintain possession on offense, but the Owls stayed disciplined and aggressive and with a little more than ten minutes to go it paid off as Farwick scored to tie the game at nine.

Following the Farwick goal, Senft made three huge saves before Albertson cashed in on a free-position attempt giving Kennesaw State their first lead of the game.

LIU bounced back to tied the game at ten, but less than a minute later Albertson got her second of the game to give the Owls the lead one last time.

The Owls outscored the Blackbirds 7-3 in the second half as Senft had 15 saves to LIU's five saves.

Senft was also big on free-position attempts holding the Blackbirds to 1 for 5.

The scoring was done by McGhee (4), Farwick (3), Albertson (2) and Emily Hallberg (2). Farwick also had two assists.
