BUIES CREEK, N.C. –
The Kennesaw State women's lacrosse team battled with the Campbell Camels on Sunday, March 1, but came up just short losing 16-12.

"I'm proud of the way our team performed today," head coach Kristina Llanes said. "We focused on a game plan going into today and they executed it to the best of their ability. I saw growth in many of our athletes and people gained confidence in their roles."

Sydney Farwick and Taylor McGhee each had three goals and freshmen Lucy Mills and Emily Hallberg combined for four goals.

"We were able to gain opportunities in our attacking end from the "behind the scenes" work from Haley (O'Donoghue)," Llanes added. "She worked hard to maintain possession and give us shooting opportunities. Defensively, RoseAnna (Scheimer) and Megan Tobias took on personnel responsibilities and executed those well."

With 18 minutes remaining, Farwick scored to tie the game at 11. After Campbell scored twice, McGhee tallied her third goal of the day to pull the Owls within one, but Campbell held on for the win.

The Owls started the game by going up 4-1 on goals from four different players.

Then, Campbell made a run and went ahead 5-4, but Kennesaw State responded with three straight goals to take a 7-5 lead into halftime.

Coming out of the locker room, the Camels got on the board first to get within one, but Hallberg answered for the Owls to put them back up two goals.

Once Campbell took the lead at 9-8, the teams traded goals until it was 11-11, and then the Camels got some separation.

Allison Senft had a career high 13 saves in the game and also picked up five ground balls.

Next weekend, the Owls will play La Salle in Jacksonville on Saturday, March 7 at 10 a.m.
