Owls Looking to Continue Strong Start to 2015 Season

KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State men's track and field team with look to continue its strong start when it travels to Johnson City, Tenn. to compete in the ETSU Track and Field Invitational at the David E. Walker Track inside the Mountain State Health Alliance Center  on Friday (Jan.16). The two -day event concludes on Saturday (Jan. 17).

KSU opened the year ranked No. 16 nationally in the United States Track and Field Cross Country Association (USTFCCA) preseason computer rankings. The Owls are the highest ranked mid-major program in the poll.

David E Walker Track:
Located inside the ETSU/MSHA Mini-Dome, the David E. Walker Track has hosted numerous Atlantic Sun and Southern Conference Championships.

THE COMPETITION:
The field for the ETSU Track and Field  Invitational consists of 35 teams, including 14 schools from Division I. The Division I schools will only be scored against each other.

NEXT UP:
The Owls will travel  to Minneapolis, Minn. to compete in the Jack Johnson  Invitational at the University of Minnesota scheduled for Jan. 30-31 .
 
THE COACHES TAKE ON THIS WEEKEND:
 "The men had a good showing last weekend, so I expect them to carry that momentum over to ETSU," assistant head coach #Duane Morris said of the throwers. "Daniel McKune gets better as the weeks go by, so I'm excited to see what he will do this week.  Martynas Sedys had a good week of practice, so we will see what this weekend brings, but 20 meters is in his grasp."

 NEWS AND NOTES:
Sophomore Drew Duggans set the school-record in the 60m with a time of 6.73 in the finals to win the event.
 
Junior Martynas Sedys won his second weight throw event of the season after a meet-record throw of 19.78m, besting the second place finisher by 1.25m.
  
 Freshmen Dylan Titon won the 3000m with a time of 8:45.94.
 
All-American Andre Dorsey made his 2015 debut at the Blazer Invitational and won the high jump with a jump of 2.15m and finished second in the triple jump leaping 15.41m.
