KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State track and field junior Alicia Whittle has been named the recipient of the Owls of Excellence Award for the month of October, it was announced on Wednesday (October 17).
 
The Owls of Excellence Award was instituted in August of 2012 and established to recognize Kennesaw State student-athletes who excel in their chosen sport, in the classroom, and provide service to the community. A different student-athlete is honored and featured monthly on the Department of Athletics' website, KSUOwls.com.
  
Whittle earned second team All-American honors on the women's 4x100 team during the past two outdoor seasons. This past outdoor season, she placed on the podium in seven events at the A-Sun Championships as well as winning gold in the 200m, 4x100 and 4x400 in outdoor and winning the 60m-dash during the indoor season.
 
Along with placing on the podium, Whittle is the school record holder in the 60m, 100m, 200m, 400m, 4x100 and 4x400.
 
Whittle is equally impressive in the classroom as she is on the track. She has been on the President's List (4.0) four times as well as being named a USTFCCCA Academic All-American in 2013.
