KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State junior women’s tennis player #Tamara Plocher# (Cologne, Germany/Albertus-Magnus-Gymnasium) has been named the recipient of the Owls of Excellence Award for the month of October, the Department of Athletics announced on Tuesday.
The Owls of Excellence Award was instituted in August of 2012 and established to recognize Kennesaw State student-athletes who excel in their chosen sport, in the classroom, and provide service to the community. A different student-athlete will be honored and featured monthly on the Department of Athletics’ website, KSUOwls.com.
During her time at Kennesaw State, Plocher has provided leadership as a member of the tennis team while also being actively involved in the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and community activities, and majoring in finance.
Plocher currently serves as vice president of SAAC and is spearheading the organization’s initiative for providing additional support for KSU’s international student-athletes. Additionally, Plocher’s activities include reading to elementary school students, participating in the 5K Run for Recovery, and working with the Horizon Baseball League, which provides opportunities for athletes with physical or cognitive disabilities.
A standout in the classroom, Plocher is a two-time Atlantic Sun Conference All-Academic selection, scholar-athlete and International Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athlete.
