KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State senior dance team member Laura Saunders (St. Louis, Mo. / Aurora Central Catholic) has been named the recipient of the Owls of Excellence Award for the month of September, the Department of Athletics announced on Tuesday.
The Owls of Excellence Award was instituted in August of 2012 and established to recognize Kennesaw State student-athletes who excel in their chosen sport, in the classroom, and provide service to the community. A different student-athlete will be honored and featured monthly on the Department of Athletics’ website, KSUOwls.com.
During her time at Kennesaw State, Saunders has provided leadership as a member of the dance team while also excelling in her academics and being actively involved in the community. Saunders is a nursing major.
A transfer from the University of Georgia where she was a chair member of the Relationship and Sexual Violence Prevention (RSVP) organization, Saunders has made the Dean’s List every semester of her college career. In addition to serving on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), Saunders is a member of the National Honor Society of Sigma Alpha Lambda, Delta Iota Epsilon Honor Society, the Nursing Honor Society Theta Tau International and Mu Phi Chapter.
A native of St. Louis, Mo., Saunders volunteers at the Ronald McDonald House, Golden Soldiers and Relay for Life.
